This cache RUINED geocaching!!!
Переглядів 3,7 тис.Рік тому
How does geocaching get ruined? When one finds a geocache or set of geocaches that are so unbelievably excellent, that regular geocaching pales in comparison! In 2014 I found a called called "Into the Abyss" (GC3RFQR) which I considered my second favorite geocache (after Bridges and Arches of Central Park). That cache was archived, but recently a replacement was published, which was called "Ret...

    I'll be honest; I think I literally grew up right near there and know it as a different name. But the fact that the cache was right above when we were just chilling as children underneath it makes it even more memorable to me to be honest. Now, next time I go back, I've got to take the wifey out with me to experience it! Thanks for the content!

      Thank you, I didn’t quite make it to your area (and barely into Alabama, which I learned is in the Central Time Zone, something I didn’t know before). I highly recommend Lake Lanier and Captain John as well. Thanks for taking the time to watch this video and comment on it!

    Great job with this one! Boy, that Karen sure is a natural for not being a geocacher. Seemed like she enjoyed herself which is good to see. Georgia and Alabama are two states that I haven't yet had much time to explore. It's nice to get a preview of some of the caches I would definitely target when I ever get down that way.

      Thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed the video! Karen enjoys a good adventure and she's always fun to have along with me. We didn't get too much time to explore any of those states but perhaps someday we'll be back; I hope you get down there someday! There's a big event in Georgia in the fall but one of the caches I found isn't available then due to it coinciding with hunting season. Thanks for watching and commenting!

      Thank you, I appreciate that! The pirates cache is T5 for a reason, you'll need a boat or some other method of traversing the lake, and it's a D5 also, so I'm amazing I actually solved it! (my first D5/T5 cache ever). Thanks for watching and commenting!

    Now that's a crazy geocacher; driving from Atlanta to the Alabama border and back just for one cache. I'm one of those crazy type geocachers. We both have a wife named Karen. Our guide was Captain Steve. We found Marooned in 2018. When we found Beaver Dams the kids from the property there helped us along and had a great time with us there. LOL whatever works. We took the cable car up and walked down. Congratulations of your Geocation Geocaching vlog. You did great. I really enjoyed seeing places and caches we have also been to.

    • @GeoElmoGeocaching
      @GeoElmoGeocaching 3 місяці тому

      Lol, those cross-border excursion for a region statistic are the most fun of the geocaching stories! I've also done so many of those. I believe Captain John took over for another Captain, it could have been Captain Steve. That's so cool about the Beaver Cache, I assumed the property owners know about it, thankfully they're on board with the history! In February the cable cars don't run so it was either hike up or don't go up at all, so we chose to hike. Thanks for watching, I'm glad you think I did a good job with this vlog! It's not my natural element but I wanted to record the trip as a fun memory.

    It was fun seeing the Japanese cachers since I had actually met some of them in April when I was there.

      Very cool that you got to meet them! I've never met anyone in this film. Too bad the timing didn't work out, you could have been in the film as well! The Japanese portion was shot at event GCA5Y6C on April 2, 2023.

      @@GeoElmoGeocaching That was way before my visit there. Would've been darn cool to film this at the event that I held there. :)

    Good idea, and well executed. Next year you need to get them back together to tell me how to say "DNF, I really am terrible at this game," in different languages.

    Nice video but in the netherlands we usually say "Hebbes!" when we find a geocache ;-)

    • @GeoElmoGeocaching
      @GeoElmoGeocaching 7 місяців тому

      Thank you! I don't know Dutch but I asked a Dutch geocacher how they'd say "found it" and that's what she said. I guess technically "Gevonden" is "found it" while "Hebbes" is "got you" according to my translator? Anyway, I wanted to include a Dutch cacher and I'm glad I was able to. Thank you for watching and your comment.

      Yes, gevonden can be translated as found it. Hebbes is informal, comparable to gotcha in English. But naturally hebbes! Geocaching video will say hebbes :)

    Well done my friend. Loved it! I have always wanted to see a GIFF entry where there are geocaching relics, like the APE Cache, or WV Tim gadget caches then endow finders with special geocaching powers.

      Thank you, I appreciate it! Well I did a film for GIFF in 2019 that sort of matches your criteria, it was called "The Geocaching Express 6000 GPS Receiver" - check it out, you might enjoy the special geocaching powers it has!
